Scabies Symptoms and its Natural remedies

Scabies is a contagious skin infection known as itch. Incidence of scabies is highest in children below 15 years who live in crowded and unhygienic places.

 
Symptoms of Scabies

• Itching that increases at night or after a hot bath is the main symptom.
• In children burrows appear on the palms and trunk.
  
  
  The burrows are fine, wavy, dark lines if it can be seen.
• There is swelling, scratch marks and local eczema over affected areas.

 
Causes of Scabies

The female itch mite deposits eggs under the skin, the larvae hatch and the itch mites gather around the hair follicles of the skin.


They are the main cause of the disease. Close body contact, holding hands for a long time and exchange of clothing helps in spreading the disease.

 
Scabies Natural cures

• The patient should be given fresh juicy fruits during the treatment and warm water enema should be administered regularly.
• Fresh juice of apricot leaves or mint leaves is valuable remedy in treating scabies. Apply the juice over the affected areas.
• Flour of  Bengal gram is an effective cleansing agent. Wash the skin with this flour.
• Juice of bitter gourd has proved beneficial in the treatment of the disease. Half cup juice of bitter gourd mixed with 1 teaspoon of lime juice should be sipped slowly on an empty stomach for a week.
• Soak in a warm bath for 20 minutes and scrub the affected areas thoroughly. Mix 8 Tablespoon of coconut oil and 2 teaspoon sublimed sulphur to make a paste. Apply the paste over the entire skin surface. Repeat this for 3 successive nights and wear the same under clothing every time. Take a hot bath after the last application and wear clean under and outside clothing.
• All clothes worn, pillow covers and bed sheets should be boiled in hot water and dried.
