Rheumatism Home Remedies
In Rheumatism, there is pain and swelling of the muscles, ligaments and tendons of the joints.. It can be acute or chronic. They are of 2 types – muscular rheumatism that affects muscles and articular rheumatism, which affects joints.
- Intense soreness and pain, fever and rapid pulse are the symptoms of onset of acute rheumatism.
- Pain and stiffness of affected muscles and joints and permanent deformity maybe the results of chronic rheumatism.
- Blood poisoning due to imperfect elimination and lowered vitality is the chief cause of rheumatism.
- Bread, sugar, refined cereals and meat leave large toxic wastes in the system.
- When vitality is low acid wastes are concentrated around the joints and bony structures and forms the basis of rheumatism.
- Infection from tonsils, teeth and gall bladder gives rise to rheumatism.
- And exposure to cold water aggravates the condition further.
Home cures for Rheumatism
- For Acute Rheumatism the patient should be put on a short fast of orange juice for 3-4 days. Warm water enema should be administered. Then a restricted diet for 14 days should be adopted. And gradually embark on a well-balanced diet.
- For chronic rheumatism, the patient should be placed on an all fruit diet for 4-5 days followed by a well-balanced diet.
- Ripe fruits and fresh vegetables should be eaten in abundance.
- Lots of buttermilk should be consumed.
- Raw potato juice is an excellent home remedy for rheumatism. 1-2 teaspoon of the juice before meals helps eliminate acid condition and relieves rheumatism.
- Decoction of potato peelings is rich in mineral salts and water and excellent for rheumatism. The peelings should be thoroughly washed, boiled and strained. A glassful of the same should be taken 3-4 times daily.
- Celery and fluid extract of its seeds is also effective. Take 5-10 drops of this fluid with hot water before meals.
- Juice of 2-3 lemons maybe taken each day for beneficial results.
- Hot Epsom salt baths twice a week is beneficial. Even the affected areas should be bathed.
- Hot tub bath, cabinet steam bath, dry friction, sponge bath, hot packs and radiant heat relieve pain.
- Light outdoor exercises, deep breathing and fresh air are helpful.
