Loading ...Psoriasis is one chronic, stubborn skin disease characterized by thick, red, silvery, scaled patches of skin. It usually makes its appearance first between 15-30 years. It is not contagious.
Symptoms of Psoriasis
The skin appears red and irritated with bright silvery scales, accompanied by itching skin behind the ears, scalp, elbows, trunk, knees, underarm or genital areas. The lesions of psoriasis are always dry and rarely infected.
Causes of Psoriasis
Heredity, abnormal mechanism in which skin grows and replaces itself are the main factors. Use of certain medications, changes in seasons, physical and emotional stress, minor abrasions, infections, cuts and burns aggravate the outbreak of psoriasis.
Home cures for Psoriasis
- Start with a cleansing juice fast for 7 days. Administer warm water enema. After that adopt a well-balanced diet with emphasis on sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds and plenty of organically grown fruits and vegetables.
- Avoid eggs, milk, butter, refined or processed foods, all condiments, tea and coffee. After improvement include goats milk, homemade cottage cheese and yogurt in the diet.
- Vitamin E therapy has been found effective in the treatment of psoriasis. It reduces itching and scabs.
- Lecithin is also a remarkable remedy. Take 2-3 capsules before or after each meal.
- Epsom salt baths have proved valuable in psoriasis. Take 3 baths a week in the initial stages. Olive oil maybe applied after the bath. Use daily dry friction or sponge to keep the skin absolutely clean.
- Sunlight, sunlamp or ultraviolet light is also beneficial.
- Cabbage leaves have been successfully used as compresses. Choose the thickest and greenest outer leaves, wash and wipe them, warm them and apply smoothly to the affected part cover it with a soft woolen cloth and bandage it.
