Natural cure for Peptic Ulcer
Peptic Ulcer is an eroded lesion in any part of the digestive tract, which is exposed to acidic gastric juice. But it is usually found in the stomach (gastric ulcer) and the duodenum (duodenal ulcer).
Symptoms of Peptic Ulcer
- Discomfort in upper central abdomen and severe sharp burning pain are the main symptoms.
- Gastric ulcer pain usually occurs an hour after meals.
- Duodenal ulcer pain occurs in-between meals when the stomach is empty.
- Insomnia, mental tension, excessive flatulence, weakening of the body, constipation and occasional blood in the stools are the symptoms exhibited as the disease progresses.
Causes of Peptic Ulcer
- Increase of hydrochloric acid in the stomach leads to hyper acidity that may damage the lining of the stomach and duodenum causing irritation of the stomach wall and ulcer eventually.
- Taking heavy meals, overeating, intake of highly spiced foods, alcohol, smoking and tea are the main factors.
- Nervous tension, emotional stress, infection, food poisoning and certain drugs like aspirin are also responsible.
Natural Treatment of Peptic Ulcer
- Bananas are most effective against peptic ulcer. It coats the lining of the stomach, reduces irritation and neutralizes hyper acidity. Banana and milk-diet are beneficial for patients in advanced stages.
- Raw goats milk helps heal peptic ulcer.
- Almond milk made from blanched almonds binds excess acid in the stomach and supplies high quality protein.
- Cabbage is a useful home remedy. Boil cabbage in water, allow it to cool and take it twice daily.
- Leaves of drumstick help heal ulcers. The leaves are ground into a paste, mixed with yogurt and consumed daily.
- Raw cabbage and carrot juices have shown excellent results. Carrot juice maybe taken in combination with cucumber, spinach or beet.
- Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day.
- Bathe twice daily with cold water. Alternate hot and cold hip baths for 10-15 minutes and a mud pack over the lower abdomen for half an hour daily helps the ulcers heal. Hot packs should be placed on abdomen to relieve abdomen and stomach pain.
- The patient should eat small meals comprising of natural foods and take it in dry form. Do not eat if your mouth is dry or you are not hungry.
- Avoid too hot and too cold foods and drinks.
- Deep breathing exercises, yoga and daily massages help a lot.
- Cultivate regularity in habits whether its rest, exercise or work.
