Question: Since last two weeks, I’m suffering from bad pain while urinating. It is very painful in the area from where urine passes. I’m taking Neeri syrup, pain killer and Cifram-CT. But pain is still there. What should I do?
Answer:
Causes of Dysuria:
The various causes for dysuria or pain during urination are the following:
- urinary tract infection
- urinary stones
- pyelonephritis
To ascertain what the diagnosis for the pain is, it is necessary to get a few investigations done.
Get a urine routine done – it will identify the causative bacteria, which could be responsible for an infection.
Assess the levels of urinary calcium, oxalate, and uric acid.
X-ray – to show stone formations
Treatment for Pain while Urinating:
- Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water daily. And make it a habit, even once you are cured of the urinary trouble to prevent a recurrence. Water flushes out toxins and bacteria and also maintains the right acid-base balance.
- A high fluid intake is essential to prevent the urine from becoming concentrated.
- Avoiding urine before bed time is crucial. Another important point to bear in mind is to drink a glass of water around 4 o’clock in the morning. Drinking water at this hour ensures that the urine doesn’t get too concentrated.
- Pass urine after intercourse.
- Have a shower quickly after you get out of the swimming pool.
- Check constipation. A rectum loaded with feces impairs bladder emptying.
- Avoid foods which irritate the kidney – alcohol, aerated drinks, and pickles.
- Cucumber, radish, tomato, spinach, meat should be stayed away from.
- Holy basil is an excellent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Moreover, it helps expel stones.
