My son is six yrs old. For the last 2 months he is suffering from runny nose. Suddenly he told me that he has trouble hearing in his left ear. Doctor suggested an X-ray which showed he has ADENOID HYPERTROPHY and TONSILLAR HYPERTROPHY. Doctor is suggesting surgery to treat the adenoids. I want to avoid surgery. Is there any natural home remedy or herbal cure for adenoids?

My son is 11 years old with adenoids and tonsillitis. He has also been advised surgery. Do you think we should go ahead with the surgery and if yes, what precautions should be taken? How long will he take to recuperate from the surgery?

My daughter is almost 2. She is suffering from sleep apnea, she is very small and never had a great appetite and has always prominently breathed from her mouth (especially when drinking, nursing or taking a bottle), and now she has a lots of congestion with a runny nose and green drainage, and a cough for 6 weeks straight. Her pediatrician has prescribed her third and strongest antibiotic and it’s not helping at all. I am concerned that her adenoids may be enlarged. I am wondering to take her to ENT. Please give suggestions?

My daughter had tonsils and adenoids which were removed at the age of three, she had recurring problems and our doctor kept telling us she would get better as she got older. We asked for a second opinion, and the doctor said surgery was necessary. Once she had the surgery she was like a different child, has never had any problems, we made the best choice although not easy to have put your child through surgery!

We are now having problems with our 5 year old son! I think he has enlarged adenoids! Breathless through his mouth, talks like someone is holding his nose, deleted infections and on top of that he is asthmatic. If removal of his adenoids is an option I will choose it!

My son is 6+ years old and he had his tonsil and adenoids surgically removed two years ago.
For around 1 year he was having no problem. Now same problem is persisting and doctors are saying to remove surgically again. I am scared! Please advice.

My hubby and 2 daughters had their adenoids surgically removed years ago and are now doing fine. Although the surgery was quick, they suffered a lot because of the intense pain that resulted afterwards. Of my daughters, one of them vomited from the pain medication and healed fine with little to no pain, I’m still puzzled by that. Now, my youngest son who is 5 years old (I’ve noticed that children around this age are tested with this problem) has sleep apnea due to a sinus infection. I am thinking of opting out of surgery this time around and am looking at alternative ways to help him. Considering surgery again is so uncomfortable for me that I’m going to pray and do something much safer, if our Creator is willing.

Holistic medicines are one thing. There is sound science behind their use, and in many cases they can be beneficial. Homeopathic medicines are a TOTALLY different animal, and do absolutely nothing on their own. Any effect they have on a problem is due to the individuals mind and/or the natural course of the problem.

Do your research. There are NO scientific studies showing any benefit from using homeopathic medicines except from sources trying to sell you said medicines. When you dilute a substance so much that it no longer exists in the solution, it no can no longer do anything because it’s no longer there.

    Holistic fine, homeopathic imaginary.

Hello everyone, I to have a 5 yr old who has been struggling with enlarged adenoids. I have taken her to 2 different ENT and even got an x ray done and it shows that there enlarged and it’s causing her to have such a chronic stuffy nose. And of course the two doctors I saw all say it’s best to operate. I am extremely nervous to do so. I have tried so many natural things. I am thinking of taking her to a holistic doc. Now she has come down with a cold and her nose is worst. What should I do.!

You can pour 2 drops of pure lukewarm clarified butter into her/his nasal cavity. It will help in sleeping without nasal blockage. Also, it will help in reducing infection in adenoids.
I am also doing the same for a week and found that my daughter sleeps well. This remedy was told to me by my grand mother.

    Von,
I guess I am the only parent who is going through this, it seems like almost every parents that I talk to their kids are going through the same thing. I have taken my son (5yr old) too few different doctors and finally I met a doc who knows what she is doing. Per her he has really bad allergies and that irritates his adenoids. I have also changed my flooring from carpet to woods now, and it seems to working because he is not snoring loud as he used to. Even though, he still breaths from his mouth few hours a night. Try to by the dust mites covers and see if that works from him and have the humidifier. I have giving him a ginger juice 1 tsp every morning and forcing him to drink lots of fluid during the day. I am not sure what is it that’s helping him a bit but something is helping him. Oh yeah get him a little nosy saline, see if that works for him. I will keep you guys update with my child. I hope there is a cure for it. I don’t want him to go through the surgery so I am doing every little thing to help him out. I hope this helps. Please email me if you have any questions.

My son is six and has some of the same problems but my biggest concern is when he is sleeping his breathing is very bad to the point of gasping for air. I have been advised to allow him to have the surgery but never got up the nerve to have him put down. Wish there were something else to help other than the surgery.

My son is 7.5 years old with adenoids problems. He has also been advised surgery. Do you think we should go for surgery. Does patient improve after surgery?
    While allopathy surgeons say that:-
    1. There is not use of adenoids after 3 years.
    2. If child does not breathe properly, his internal organs and brain will not grow.

Homeopathy docs say they can cure it in 3-4 years and no need for surgery.

Adenoids are the lymphoid tissues situated behind the nose. They are just adjacent to the tonsils. Their main function is to trap the germs and thus protect the body from further infection. In this process they some times get infected and inflamed themselves.
They shrink in size as the child grows, just as the tonsils shrink. If infected the child breathes through the mouth due to the blockage of the nose. Some times it causes ear infection because of their proximity with the Eustachian tube of the ear. Sinusitis can also occur due to enlarged adenoids.
Usually adenoids shrink after the age of 5 or 6 years. But it is troublesome if it gets recurrently infected. Or there is recurrent upper respiratory tract infection. In such cases a child needs to take a course of antibiotics.
    Prevention:
Avoid giving the child junk food, cold drinks, chocolates, and processed food containing high carbohydrate.
Some natural ways to treat the condition:
Boiled milk and turmeric powder taken at night is found to be beneficial in this condition.
Vegetable juice, or fruit juice, or fruits help in building the immunity to fight infection.
You can give homeopathic medicine as an alternative therapy.

Yes, I am taking him to another doctor next week. He has allergy from weeds, grass, and dust mites. According to the allergist he is allergic to dust mites. Do you think that could trigger the adenoids?

  15. PUP

Dust mites are small microbes present in the dust; they are present in every household. They are the most common cause for upper respiratory tract infection. They are the cause of rhinitis in many persons. They are present in bedding’s, curtains, and carpets. So while changing the bedding, dusting the carpet and curtain make sure your child does not stay in that surrounding for that period.
It is advisable to change the bedding regularly, and also the pillow covers.
Give him nutritious food to boost his immunity.

I totally agree! I have two kids who were brought up on only homeopathic medicine. My eight year old girl has had one ear infection at 2. I treated it naturally ( no antibiotics ) never had another one! Has an amazing immune system. So does my three year old son. No infections, just a few colds. It is so worth it to do your own research on natural alternatives!
    P.S: no vaccines either.
