Remedies for Middle Ear Infections
Middle Ear Infection is inflammation of that portion of the ear, which is directly behind the eardrum. Ear is divided into 3 parts the external part, middle part or drum and internal part. It is a sensitive organ and its inner structure is inaccessible.
Symptoms of Middle Ear Infection
- Inflammation behind the eardrum.
- Discharge of the pus into the outer ear.
- Hearing is slightly impaired initially and if untreated may cause deafness.
Causes of Middle Ear Infection
Infection of the upper respiratory tract causes middle ear infection. The swelling of mucosa in the throat, blocks the Eustachian tube and pus accumulates in the middle ear cavity. Removal of tonsils and adenoids (that eliminates toxins) and treatment of childhood fevers are other factors.
Remedies for Middle Ear Infection
- Infection has to be cleared and toxins have to be cleansed from the system.
- Patient should have dilute orange juice for 5 days.
- Warm water enema is to be administered daily. Later adopt an exclusive fruit diet. Gradually embark upon a well-balanced diet.
- Avoid lentil, sugar, milled rice and other foods that increase phlegm.
- Hot foot bath or hot fomentation to the sides of the head over the ear relieves pain.
- Margosa oil is found effective for infection and inflammation of the ear. 1-2 drops can be instilled into the ear.
- Onion juice is beneficial in treatment of pus in the ear. Drops of warm juice should be put into the ear 2-3 times daily.
- Garlic oil relieves earache. Simultaneously chew 2-3 cloves of garlic daily for few days. It provides relief.
- Sunbathing and fresh air checks the discharge of pus from the ear. Regular outdoor games and exercises are also beneficial.
