If it is bacterial meningitis than their is nothing naturally that will cure it. You need to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotic treatment. You need to know what type of meningitis you have to effectively treat it. Which means you should have a spinal tap done so you can tell if it is viral or bacterial. These tips listed at the top of this page may alleviate the symptoms of the disease but they will in no way cure it. Untreated bacterial meningitis can lead to death. This is why you should always consult a doctor about the proper course of treatment and never attempt to deal with the disease yourself.

    Managing Treating Meningitis

Dietary tips and guidelines for managing meningitis

    - Ensure that the diet is nutritious and wholesome. Avoid junk foods, refined foods, and processed foods. They weaken the immune mechanisms and predispose the individual to a relapse.

    - Make sure that you cook animal proteins (meat) well. Improper meat cooking causes Listeriosis which in turn causes meningitis.

    - Incorporate lots of water in the diet. Water flushes out toxins and bacteria effectively.

    - Treatment and prevention of meningitis is greatly based on the optimal functioning of the immune system. Include pro-biotic foods such as – yogurt, cheese, and berries. They perk up the immune system and fight infection.

    Preventing Meningitis

    - Do not share personal things – napkins, towels, tissues, water bottles, cosmetics and utensils.

    - Eat a balanced and nutritious diet, rich in whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits.

    - Personal hygiene is fundamental for the prevention of meningitis.

    - Adequate rest is very important for quick recuperation.
