Symptoms of Leucoderma and its Natural cure

Leucoderma is loss of skin-pigment (melanin) giving rise to white patches.It is also called vitiligo. It is more common in women. Hands, neck, back and wrist are most affected.

Symptoms of Leucoderma

A small white spot is seen initially. It gradually develops into patches. The pale patches become whiter with time. The spots enlarge merge together and form a broad patch.

Causes of Leucoderma

Excessive mental worry, burn injuries, defective perspiration mechanism, ailments like typhoid that affect gastro-intestinal tract, acute or chronic gastric disorder, worms or parasites in the alimentary canal and impaired hepatic function.

Treatment of Leucoderma

  • The system should be cleansed of accumulated toxins.
  • Drink fruit or vegetable juice for a week.
  • Later adopt a diet comprising of fresh fruits, steamed vegetables and whole meal bread. Finally embark upon a well-balanced diet.
  • Bowels should be cleansed daily with warm water enema.

Home Remedies for Leucoderma

  • Psoralea seeds are found very beneficial in the treatment of Leucoderma. Seeds should be soaked in juice of ginger for 3 days, and dried and powdered. Then take 1 gram of the powder with fresh milk for 40 days. The ground seeds should be applied to white spots.
  • Red clay found on hill slopes or riverside are also useful. They should be mixed with ginger juice and applied over white spots once a day.
  • Drink water that has been kept overnight in a copper vessel.
  • Combination of turmeric and mustard oil are also beneficial. About 500 grams of pounded turmeric should be soaked in 8 kilograms of water. Heat it till only 1 kilogram is left. Strain and add 500 grams of mustard oil and reheat till only oil is left behind. Apply it on the white patches every morning and evening for a month.
  • Paste made form radish seeds and vinegar is valuable. 35 grams of the powdered seeds should be mixed with vinegar and applied on white patches.
  • Psoralea and tamarind seeds should be soaked in water for 3-4 days. They should be dried, ground into paste and applied on the patches for a week.
