Head Cold Causes
A head cold is something that is very common and can be easily treated as long as you treat it as soon as possible. What is a head cold and what causes it? How does one get rid of a head cold?
- A head cold is essentially caused by a virus or by viruses.
- The mucus discharge you see when have a head cold is often clear and runny.
- A head cold is basically a cold that is characterized by headaches, nasal passage congestion, and sneezing.This can also be referred to as the common cold.
Preventing Head Colds
You can actually try to prevent the occurrence of head colds with a few of these precautionary measures:
- Always wash your hands regularly. Since head colds are caused by viruses, you may want to avoid these viruses by keeping your hands clean.
- Try to avoid contact with anyone who has a head cold for a prolonged period of time.
- Avoid sharing food, eating utensils like glasses, plates or spoons, and even drinks with people who have a cold.
- Cover your mouth and nose when someone sneezes near you and wash your hands immediately after.
Home Remedies for Head Colds
When despite these preventive measures you still find yourself with a head cold, here are a few home remedies you can try to ease yourself out of this cold:
- Try this steam bath to help ease your nasal problems. Mix together a few drops each of peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. Boil some water and pour into a clean wash basin. Add this oil mixture and with a towel over your head, inhale the steam that comes from the basin.
- Ginger tea mixed with a bit of honey will also help with clearing your nasal passages from head cold problems.
- Bathe your head in a mixture of warm water mixed with a bit of cinnamon in it.
- Try drinking tea that is made from any of the following herbs: chamomile, peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree. Taking any of these teas at least a couple times a day will help ease your cold.
- The simplest remedy for a head cold is to take in lots of fluids. Juices that are loaded with vitamin C and water can help you drain the nasal fluids faster from your nasal passages and vitamin C can help ward off any possible infections.
