Symptoms of Gastritis
- Pain and discomfort in the stomach.
- Nausea and vomiting.

- Expel toxic matter from the system by fasting on fruit juice for 2-3 days in acute cases, and for 7 days in chronic condition. Later adopt an all fruit-diet for 3 days finally followed by well balanced diet.
- The following diet should be followed -
- Upon arising – Luke warm water with lemon juice and honey.
- Breakfast – Fresh fruit, raw nuts and a glass of milk.
- Mid morning snack – Any fruit.
- Lunch – 2-3 whole meal bread, steamed vegetables and a glass of buttermilk.
- Mid Afternoon – A glass sugarcane juice, fresh fruit or vegetable juice.
- Dinner – Green vegetable salad with lemon juice and vegetable oil dressing, cottage cheese, fresh butter and sprouts.
- Bed Time – An apple or a glass of milk.
- Avoid sour things, spices, condiments, chilly, fleshy food and sweets.
- Drink 200 milliliters of spinach juice mixed with equal quantity of carrot juice.
- Drink 8-10 glasses of water. Eat meals at least 2 hours before bedtime. Hasty eating and too many varieties should be avoided.
- Rice gruel is effective in acute cases.
- Coconut water provides necessary nutrients and gives rest to the stomach. It should be taken during first 24 hours for better results.
- Warm water enema should be administered for a week.
- Apply heat on an empty stomach twice a day for 2 hours after meal.
- Give sponge bath daily.
- Avoid worries, mental tension and hard physical work.
- Undertake swimming, walking and breathing exercises.

What is Gastritis?

* Prolonged irritation of the stomach can cause chronic gastritis.
Home remedies for Gastritis
1. Till symptoms persist avoid smoking, caffeine and alcohol consumption.
2. Anti-inflammatory drugs are harsh on stomach, so avoid them as far as possible.
3. For stomach pain take acetaminophen or antacids as per label instructions.
4. After an attack of gastritis, fast for 24 hours. You can drink water and non-alcoholic beverages.
5. Start eating small meals only on the following day, which consists of bland foods like cooked vegetables, toast, applesauce and rice that are easy on the stomach.
Preventing Gastritis
1. Accumulation of acid in the stomach can be prevented, by eating small, frequent meals.
2. If the cause is stress, make necessary changes in your life to minimize it.
3. Take medications in the enteric form that have a special coating and pass un-dissolved from stomach to small intestine.
4. Acute and chronic gastritis are caused by alcohol consumption and smoking, quit them.
5. Fried, spicy or fatty foods may cause gastritis. So eat them in moderation.
