How to stop gas and Bloating

  1. Dentures should be fitted properly.
  2. Treatment should be taken for post-nasal discharge.
  3. Slow down while eating, avoid gulping food and chew each bite properly and avoid talking while eating.
  4. Avoid drinking through straws or narrow mouth bottles, a glass or cup should be used.
  5. Don’t lie down immediately after eating food, sit for a while.
  6. Eliminate carbonated drink from your diet.
  7. Cut down on fatty foods.
  8. Exercise regularly, reduce undue mental stress.
  9. Avoid self medication.

Foods that cause gas and Bloating

Avoid foods that produce gas, these include

  1. Beans and some nuts (groundnuts).
  2. Pulses (black gram and Bengal gram).
  3. Vegetables such as potatoes, cabbage, onions, garlic, cauliflower, radish, peas, cucumber.
  4. Apples, grapes, banana.
  5. Dairy products and milk.
  6. Eggs.
  7. High fat foods and fried foods.
  8. Fermented foods.
  9. Rich pastries.
  10. Oily or fatty sauces, gravies.

Don’t eliminate all gas producing foods at once, instead avoid one food at a time.
