Question: I have a stiff neck and am suffering from frequent bouts of dizziness. I’ve noticed that it gets aggravated when I talk and when I’m in a crowd. What is this disorder?
Answer:
The symptoms of stiff neck and dizziness point towards Cervical Spondylosis. Stress is a potent causative, aggravating and maintaining factor for Cervical Spodylosis.
But, I can not give a definitive answer. Further examinations and investigations are necessary to come to a diagnosis.
It would be advisable to get an X-ray of the neck and spine done. Also, a visit to an Orthopedic is recommended.
Frequent Dizziness and Stiff Neck Causes
Other probable causes of your symptoms could be:
- Low blood pressure (usually associated with sweating, shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting)
- Anemia and excessive bleeding
- Certain medications are also known to cause giddiness
- Meniere’s disease (a disorder of the inner ear, causes giddiness and ringing in the ears). An ENT specialist will investigate in to causes and treatment plan for this disorder.
Dizziness is a symptom, and not a disease, and the treatment will be through the management of the underlying cause. Thus, ascertaining the exact cause of the symptoms is very important.
