An ear infection is something that a lot of people suffer from and is something that can be simply annoying and really painful. You can take care of this problem from the comfort of your own home. It is important to treat an ear infection, since leaving it untreated could result in the worsening of the situation and may lead to perforation of one’s eardrums. Treatment and Home Remedies for Ear Infection

When suffering from ear pain and ear infection, some people rush to the doctor to have it treated. You can get a certain amount of relief from home before going to the doctor with some of these home remedies:

  • To relieve yourself of some of the pain that ear pressure often brings when an ear is infected do this remedy. Place in a clean sock about a cup of raw rice grains and heat this up in your microwave for around a minute to a minute and a half.
    Place this heated sock with rice grains over your ailing ear before you pop some pain medication. The pressure from your painful ear will ease this heated sock. Repeat as necessary.
  • Lemon is a natural acid that can help restore the natural pH balance of your ear and can help kill the bacteria in an infected ear. Simply squeeze a bit of lemon juice in each infected ear and let sit for a few minutes. Drain the ear by lying on your side after this and make sure you catch the liquid with a towel over your ear.
  • You can make an herbal ear drop remedy for ear infections. Just mix together in a pan some water, 4 tablespoons of chopped up garlic, olive oil, and chopped-up onions. Simmer this mixture for a few minutes until the water is cut to a quarter of its original quantity. Strain this liquid of the chunks and place in a clean dropper bottle. Use a couple of drops of this mixture on each infected ear and let sit for ten minutes then drain each ear. Repeat whenever necessary.
  • Colloidal silver has always been a popular pain reliever for swollen and infected ears. A couple of drops on each infected ear will bring down the swelling and relieve you of the pain in an hour or so.
  • Garlic oil is also a good remedy for ear infections. Simply place a few drops of garlic oil in your ear and let sit for 20 minutes, then drain. Will drain out any liquids and will help with the swelling.
  • Liquid drained from chopped onions is also a good remedy for ear infections. Use this liquid in an infected ear, let sit for a few ,minutes then drain this liquid into a towel.
