Symptoms of Depression and Natural home remedies

Depression is an emotional disorder that varies from feelings of sadness, to complete misery and dejection. And in extreme cases may to lead to suicidal tendencies.

Symptoms of Depression

• The person feels tired and lacks interest, loss of energy.
• Unexplainable sadness and great sense of loss.
• Frequent sleep disturbances, guilty, self absorptive and oppressive feelings.
• Irritability.
• Loss of appetite and weight.
• Lack of concentration, fickle mind, nausea, giddiness, agitation.
• Impotence or frigidity.
• Body ache and pain.
• Constipation etc.
• In severe cases hot flushes and shivering, low B.P., Low body temperature and feeling of despair and unworthiness.

Causes of Depression

• Reduced functioning of the Adrenal gland is the main cause.
• Irregular and wrong diet can cause indigestion and reduce supply of Oxygen to the tissue which raises Carbon Dioxide level causing depression.
• Excessive use of drugs, weak liver, low blood sugar, diabetes are the other causes.
• Mental stress and strain, growing complexities of modern life and resulting crisis are also responsible.

Natural Cure of Depression

• Diet – Build brain chemicals by eating foods rich in Vitamin B such as fish, eggs, green vegetables and whole grains. Coffee, tea, chocolates, cola, alcohol, white flour products and strong condiments should be avoided.
• Activity and Exercise – Constructing something new, repairing or decorating gives pleasure of achievement and diversifies ones mind from feeling of misery. Exercise produces chemical and psychological changes, provides recreation and mental relaxation besides mental and physical fitness and reduces feeling of helplessness. At a regular time each day exercise like walking should be undertaken. Yoga is very beneficial.
• Relaxation and Meditation – Sufficient rest and sleep should be sought under right condition, after gaining control over nervous system. Relaxation through yoga enables muscles to work more efficiently and eliminates fatigue. Meditation helps the mind to concentrate and creates balance in the nervous system. Regular time, place and practices are important. Fill bathtub with water – temperature ranging from 92 – 98 degree Fahrenheit and lie in it, head should be kept cold with a compress.
