Brittle Nails Causes, Treatments:
Nails that are hard and can get easily damaged or broken are called brittle. Insufficient nutrition and mineral deficiency can make nails brittle. It can also be due to emotional stress and the after effects of a serious illness. See your physician immediately in case of deep tears, total loss of nails, a diseased nail bed or suspicion of a fungal infection.
Dosage: One standard dose of potency 200 once a day, but not more than six weeks.
Symptoms, Remedies of Brittle Nails:
- Nails are brittle, out of shape, with vertical ridges; growth of nails is very fast; feels as if a splinter might be stuck under the nail.

Remedy – Acidum hydrochloricum - Nails come out in layers; they are shapeless, thick and brittle; have small white spots; especially accompanied with dry skin/mucus membranes.
Remedy – Alumina - Nails peel in large layers; vertical, thick, deep ridges/tears; severe build up of calluses.
Remedy – Antimonium crudum - Physical development in children rather slow; sweaty/cold hands and feet; heavy sweating around the head at night; moves feet from under the covers.
Remedy – Calcarea carbonica - Nails are thick, shapeless, brittle; nails peel in layers; often ingrown toenails; especially accompanied by constipation and weight problems.
Remedy – Graphites - Nails break easily; nails are shapeless with thickened, vertical ridges; ridges have white spots. Especially in people who are constantly cold, including children.
Remedy – Silicea - Nails are very soft, delicate; break easily; peels off in layers; have cuts or marks, ridges; the edges of the nails have wave like horizontal ridges; often accompanied by ingrown toe nails.
