Mineral oil is just one of the many products made from petroleum. It is known in the market as baby oil only with added scent. It is mainly made of alkanes and cyclic parrafins (same with that of petroleum jelly). It is a tasteless, transparent, and odourless liquid. There are many mineral oil uses known today.

- Used in candies as a lubricant that prevents them from adhering and creates a glossy effect on them.
- May be incorporated to food as fat substitute.
