How does massage help me relieve stress?
All of us experience Stress in our everyday lives. We all have tons of things to do. We need to face multiple situations good, bad or ugly. Similarly we need to meet the demands of our family, office, friends and more.
Hence, it is inevitable that we worry how to do proper justice to all. To put it simply, stress is nothing but being worried about how to cope with a situation, change, demand.
Stress, Worry, Tension is a slow poison. The effect of which we don’t even understand till the time it takes a heavy toll on our health. Being under continuous stress over a long period affects our mind, body behavior adversely in many ways.
Medical researches suggest that around 60 – 80 % of all illnesses are stress related. Stress is the root cause of many physical illnesses and some times aggravates or worsens ailments such as: Asthma, Chronic Pain, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Heart Burn, High Blood Pressure, Infertility, Migraines, Obesity, Skin Problems, Ulcers etc.
Stress can also lead to mental problems such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. It can also lead you to bad habits such as drinking, smoking, drugs etc.
For our general well being and happiness, it is therefore important to understand what the warning symptoms of stress are so that we can cope with stress in the early stage itself and avoid it from going out of control and affecting our health adversely.
Some very common symptoms of stress are: anxiousness, continuous worrying, lack of concentration, indecisiveness, memory problems, negative thoughts.
If you are under lot of stress you are likely to feel a lot of agitation, frequent mood swings, short temperedness, unhappiness, depression, tension, irritation, impatience, restlessness, feeling of loneliness etc
If you frequently suffer from headaches, backaches, sleeplessness, stiffness, muscle tensions, chest pain, rapid heartbeats, weight loss or weight gain, colds, please beware. These are sure shot sign of suffering from stress
Typically someone under tremendous stress will over react to situations, pace up and down continuously, clench jaws, fists, pick up fights with others easily, start neglecting responsibilities etc.
In our own ways we try to deal and cope with stress. Some may listen to soft soothing music, others may resort to reading their favorite books, some people go for walks, perform yoga or meditation when they feel stressed.

It relaxes and refreshes all the muscles and releases the tension built into your body. Naturally, it also helps lower your blood pressure.
Massage also helps to increases circulation, improves metabolism, stimulates your immune system, and increases the natural healing powers within the body. If someone is ailing or suffering from injuries, it helps reduce and manage pain and enables faster recovery from injuries.
To summarize, by reducing stress, massage helps to relax the mind, body and spirit. It recharges your battery and gives you a lot of positive energy, delays the onset of illness and injuries and brings about a positive outlook towards life.
