Lips are an integral part of the digestive system and chapping of lips is an indication of deprivation of essential nutrients. Chapping of lips occur during winters. Deficiency of Riboflavin ( Vitamin B2)is associated with ulceration along the corners of the mouth and cracks on the lips. Riboflavin is found in high concentration in whole grains, soy, milk, almonds, poultry, and meat and egg yolk. Incorporating these food ingredients in the diet can help ward off Vitamin B2 deficiency and also prevent drying and chapping of the lips.

Chapped Lips Vitamin E

Local application of vitamin E ointment is found to be a beneficial treatment for chapped and dry lips. Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant and improves circulation of blood to the lips. This in turn protects the lips from drying and ensures healthy and beautiful texture to the lips. Vitamin E is also protects against aging.
