Diet for Obesity Control:

Junk Food Effects on Brain:

A US study by the medical center at Dallas has revealed that the fat from certain foods, such as burgers, and ice-creams heads to the brain.

The fat molecules trigger the brain to send off messages to our body cells to disregard and pay no heed to the appetite suppressing indicators and signals from hormones that regulate weight.

Deborah Clegg, of the research team, said, usually our body is trained to tell us that we have eaten enough, but that does not happen when we are consuming something good. When we eat something high in fat, the brain is struck by the fatty acids and a resistance to hormones insulin and leptin develops. Since the brain does not ask you to stop eating, you tend to over eat.

The researchers have also disclosed that there is one specific type of fat – the palmitic acid, generally found in beef, butter, cheese, and milk which is particularly effective in triggering off this mechanism.

Weight Loss Diet:

  1. The best way to manage and control your weight is to eat a little of the foods that you crave.
  2. Strict diets make people stay away from the foods that they love, and are ineffectual, ultimately making the individual rebel against the deprivation and thus end up overeating.
  3. Avoid products that contain a lot of sugar or other sweeteners. The sugar provides empty calories, which will do you no good.
  4. Never consume a very heavy meal and then starve the stomach for a very long period of time. Instead eat 5-6 small meals, well spaced out, so that there is a gap of not more than 3 hours between two meals.
  5. Let your daily menu include fresh salads, fresh fruits, lightly sautéed or boiled vegetables and whole grains.
