Well vitamin D is best known for its role in the development and maintenance of healthy teeth, bones, and cartilage in children and adults. Vitamin D helps the body keep bones and teeth strong by increasing absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the small intestine.
However it should be taken with caution because too much vitamin D can lead to birth defects, coma or even death. An insufficient supply of vitamin D can be important in the emergence of chronic heart failure.Regular intake of food rich in vitamin D would certainly do no harm.
