Health Benefits of Spirituality in Children | Meditation, Yoga for Teens
Spirituality Benefits for Teenagers :
A research, led by Michael Yi, and Sian Cotton, has revealed that spirituality can help teenagers and adolescents, to cope up with chronic illnesses of long standing.
The researchers investigated how teenagers suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), could use spirituality and holiness to battle the disorder.
The study on spirituality and health benefits, involved 67 adolescents, who were suffering from inflammatory bowel disease, and 88 healthy, disease free teens between the ages 11 and 19.
Adolescents, suffering from IBD, are at a greater risk for suffering from a host of psycho-social difficulties, social stigma, and various mental and emotional health issues and problems.
Although, both, those who were suffering from the disorder, and those who were not, showed high levels of spiritual well being, the positive relationship between spiritual well being and the consequent mental and emotional health outcomes was more in those teens suffering from IBD, in comparison with those who were healthy.
