How to Increase Life Expectancy:

Lowering the consumption of a certain type of protein that is found in meat, fish, and nuts, could slow down the ageing processes, and greatly improve life expectancy, says a research. A vegetarian diet could be the answer to long life.
Methionine is an essential amino acid. It is found in abundance in fish, meat, sesame seeds, wheat germ, and Brazil nuts. British researchers, carried out clinical trials on fruit flies.

They discovered that by changing the combinations of the various amino acids in the diet, the lifespan was affected. This was particularly true with the amino acid methionine. The experts believe that by reducing the consumption of those foods that contain the essential amino acid methionine, people could live longer. Humans and fruit flies share many comparable genes with fundamental biological functions. Dr. Matthew Piper says, the trial was conducted on fruit flies, but, similar results have been demonstrated in mice as well.
If the research on humans shows a similar trend, then he states, it would be advisable to avoid high levels of methionine. Dr. Matthew Piper, is attached to the Institute of Healthy Ageing at University College London. He further says, it is crucial to get the protein balance right. This is especially true for people who are on to high protein diets (Atkins’ diet or body builders).
