Probiotics Health Benefits | Probiotics to Boost Immune System

Probiotics for Boosting Immunity:

Certain live and active bacteria, called the ‘good bacteria’ or the ‘friendly bacteria’, may be a secret weapon to fight colds.
In a study, people who took a supplement of 1 particular strain of bacteria – the lactobacillus fermentum, twice a day, fell sick less often, as against, people who had not taken the supplement.
There has been little study about the strain lactobacillus fermentum, hence, you may not find a range of products at health stores.

But a lot of research is showing that probiotics are immune system boosters.

Sources of Probiotics:

Yogurt is 1 of the very best sources of probiotics. So are fermented soy, soy products, and other fermented grains and legumes.

Yogurt and Weight Loss:

In a clinical trial, when obese participants, followed an appropriate diet, with reduced calories, and included three servings, each of 170 grams, of yogurt per day, they lost a staggering 61 % of fat, and 81 % of more flab, around their waists.

The reason being, that yogurt is a splendid source of calcium, and the calcium in yogurt hinders the storage of fat in the body, and enhances fat loss. Yogurt has certain fat burning compounds as well.

As more research effort is targeted towards the health benefits of specific bacteria, it will be interesting to see how many types of the various bacteria within our systems provide health benefit to us and are essentially part of a symbiotic relationship.

I didn’t realize that yogurt is one of those miracle foods that offers a number of health benefits. Benefits such as weight loss, increased immunological response, and reducing cholesterol to name a few. I intend to begin having a serving of yogurt everyday. Good post!

I agree that yogurt has many health benefits, but I would suggest that it is best to eat natural, plain yogurt. The flavoured varieties often contain a lot of sugar, particularly those targeted at children, which obviously is not so good.

    What does everyone else think?
