Healthy Weight Loss Tips: Lose Weight with Balanced Diet, Water Intake
- A study claims that drinking lots of water will not help you get rid of flab. It is simply a waste of time.
- Researchers at the University at Tokyo say that it would be more profitable if you ate foods that contain loads of water.
- According to them, it is still not very clear why water in foods, but not in drinks, aids in weight loss. They say, it could be attributed to the high fibre content in these foods.
- A clinical trial was conducted by analyzing 1000 women in Tokyo.
- The weight and the waist size of the subjects were compared to the amount of water consumed, both in the form of food and drinks.
- The research revealed no link between water in drinks (coffee, tea, aerated beverages, milk and juices) and weight.
- Whereas, a link was established between, water in foods and waist sizes. Women who consumed large quantities of water-rich foods (fruits, vegetables, salads, and soups) had smaller waists. These participants also showed a lower BMI or body mass index.
- Exercise and dieting did not affect the connection between weight and water-rich foods.
- The reason why people who are put on a diet are asked to drink a lot of water is, that, water makes you feel full, and hence you eat less.
- Fitness tip:Do not gulp your food. Chew your food thoroughly, into a fine pulp, which is almost liquid, until it practically gets swallowed itself.
- This technique is called Fletcherism. A weight loss programme based on Fletcherism works wonders.
- Zero Calorie Diet
- A zero-calorie diet consists of those foods which burn a lot of calories while chewing, digesting, metabolizing and eliminating.Hence, select foods which require a lot of chewing.
- For e.g. you eat a huge chunk of cake which would constitute about 400 calories, and the body uses up 150 calories to digest it, then the body is left with a surplus of 250 calories which gets stored as fat.
- While, on the other hand, you eat a bowl of salad, which would contain about 50 calories and the body utilizes 150 calories to digest it. So, there occurs a net loss of 100 calories. Hence, a negative calorie effect occurs which helps shed loads of fat.
Zero Calorie Foods
- Cucumber
- Celery
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Asparagus
- Spinach
- Cabbage
- Lemon
- Papaya
Healthy Weight Loss
- Staying healthy while you lose weight is a very crucial aspect of weight management.
- Never skip breakfast: People who eat breakfast are slimmer than those who do not. More importantly, it fuels you for the entire day ahead. A leisurely breakfast may not be possible for everyone. But, at least grab a smoothie or a whole grain bread sandwich or a cereal bar or even 1 whole fruit.
- Go easy on salt:Reducing salt intake helps prevent water retention and puffiness. In fact you could lose 2-3 pounds of water weight by restricting your salt intake. Also, decreased salt in the diet, keeps your heart happy.
- Eat larger portions of fibre:Fibre stands for satiety. You feel fuller for longer, since the stomach takes time to empty it out. It also wards off cravings. A fibre-rich diet protects you from a host of gastro-intestinal disorders.
