Ginger for Preventing Health Problems
- Modern research has revealed that ginger has numerous therapeutic properties. A recent study highlighted the ability of ginger to eliminate gastro-intestinal complaints.
- The study was conducted on 18 male and 18 female volunteers, highly prone to develop motion sickness. The volunteers were randomly divided into three groups for the purpose of the study.
- The 1st group received a placebo, the 2nd received Dramamine, a commonly used, over the counter drug, which fights motion sickness, and the 3rd group was given powdered ginger root.
- The volunteers were then blind folded, and taken to a mechanical rotating chair, and spun around.
- They were asked to report their feelings of nausea.
- The test was stopped when a volunteer vomited or asked the rotation to be stopped.
- Subjects who received ginger remained in the chair for an average 5 ½ minutes, those given Dramamine stayed for 3 ½ minutes, and the placebo group, 1 ½ minutes.
- Ginger root is highly effective in treating motion sicknesses, and it greatly reduces, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and cold sweating.

- Mix 1 teaspoon of dry ginger powder, 1 teaspoon of powdered cardamom, 1 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of powdered coriander seeds. Gulp it down, mixed with a generous dollop of honey.
- This combination is an instant flatulent reliever and stimulates the digestive processes.
- Consume the mixture 20 minutes to ½ hour after a meal, to battle acidity and stomach upsets.

- For a pungent stir fry, add 2 teaspoons of grated ginger to the bowl of vegetables that will be cooked.
