The calming and soothing sound of the ocean waves can significantly reduce blood pressure levels in the elderly, reveals a new study.

In the study, 20 subjects were asked to listen to a 12 minute ATP programme or an audio-guided relaxation-training programme with background sounds of ocean waves and a comforting, and gentle voice, for 3 times a week for a period of 4 months.

Another batch of 21 participants was asked to listen to a 12 minute Mozart sonata.

The systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and the heart rates of all the participants were recorded before and after the sessions.
