Healthy Mind, Body | Tips to Control Ageing | Healthy Life for Stress Control

Healthy Life:

U.S. reporters have stated that making certain lifestyle changes, including a better diet and adequate exercise, can raise the level of an enzyme, telomerase, in our body, which is engaged to control ageing process. A clinical trial was done, involving 30 men with low-risk prostate cancer, who underwent 3 months of lifestyle changes.

These subjects showed a higher blood percentage of the enzyme telomerase (29% higher), after 3 months of lifestyle changes.  The research was led by Dr. Dean Ornish, the head of Preventive Medicine Research Institute, California. Enzyme telomerase fixes and lengthens parts of the chromosome, which are known as telomeres. Telomeres direct longevity and are crucial to the maintenance of immune system cells.
Shortening of telomeres indicates disease risk and premature death. The lifestyle changes comprised of – adopting a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole cereals, pulses, and soy, moderate exercise, like walking for half an hour every day, and practicing stress-busting techniques like meditation. This is the first research that demonstrates an increase in the enzyme telomerase.

Breathing Benefits for Good Health:

The correct technique of breathing is very vital to good health. The ideal way of breathing can reverse the processes of ageing and halt the onslaught of premature old age.

The following 3 forms of pranayama (control of the prana or the vital force), should be practiced daily, as many times as possible. Pranayama makes all the cells in the body work in unison and restores harmony and health.
