Fragrance oil can be of two variety, synthetic fragrance oils and natural essential oils with a pleasant fragrance.
Before using fragrance oil one should know two to three qualities required for making candle fragrance oils. One should be aware about the flash point at which the oil will ignite when exposed to heat. The concentration of oil is also important, as some oils have strong scent which will determine the required dose for a pleasant aroma. The polarity of fragrance oil should be known for its proper mixing capabilities with wax of the candle.
How To Make Candle Fragrance Oils?
Candle fragrance oils especially essential oils have therapeutic benefits that make them useful when inhaled when the candle is burnt. All the essential oils are not suitable for candle fragrance as some are highly volatile and they evaporate quickly at room temperature or when exposed to heat. Therefore appropriate essential oil is required which meet the necessary requirements for candle fragrance oils.
- To make candle fragrance oil you will require 2 to 3 cup of plant material, plastic bag, almond oil, Mason jar and cheesecloth.
- Now gather 2 to 3 cups of the plant material such as flower petals, or cut stems or the bark as fresh as you can in early morning when the fragrance quality is at its helm.
- If you are using rose petals, place the petals in the plastic bag and zip it closed. Lay it on the flat surface and press it with a rolling pin. You may see the natural oil surfacing.
- Now in a mason jar, pour 6 to 7 ounce of almond oil. Add the pressed rose petals in the jar and close the lid tightly. Place the jar at room temperature for 3 weeks and shake it daily.
- After three weeks strain the fragrance oil through the cheesecloth into other fresh jar. Exclude the petals and the cheesecloth. Now seal the jar containing rose oil and keep it in dark for one week. After that it is ready to be used as candle fragrance oil.
