Dopamine is a neurotransmitter which is actively involved in the transmission of information and messages from the brain cells to the various parts of the body. Dopamine is involved specifically in controlling movements and the various emotions that we experience. Exposure to arsenic, cadmium, lead or other heavy metals has also been linked with the deficiency of dopamine.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to identify dopamine deficiency as the symptoms associated with the deficiency disorder are attributed to a wide range of other medical and environmental conditions. Fortunately, the treatment of the condition is fairly simple which involves modification of day to day activities to make them simple and taking daily medications to manage the condition.
