Causes Of Sore Armpits
- Hair follicles in the armpit can become infected and sore.
- A blocked sebaceous or sweat glands that become inflamed may cause soreness and discomfort.
- Skin fold in the armpits is a good environment for bacteria and other microorganisms. This may be infected and inflamed.
- Sore armpit muscles can also occur due to a swollen lymph gland.
Sore Armpits Symptoms
- Pain in the armpits especially when they are rubbed or moved.
- Redness on the area.
- Swelling.
- There may be bleeding or pus discharge.
- There may be mild fever.
Treatment For Sore Armpits
- Clean the area with clean cloth and a mild antiseptic such as betadine solution. You can wash it with clean lukewarm water. Pat dry the infected area. It is important to keep the armpits dry.
- Apply topical antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.
- If there are no open wounds, you can apply warm compress for 20 to 30 minutes.
- If there are lumps or abscess, do not attempt to press or prick it. This will only cause further infection.
- Avoid rubbing your armpits.
- Do not apply powder as it will irritate your armpits.
- Eat foods high in vitamin C, A, and B complex, as well as foods high in protein. This diet will aid in tissue repair and will enhance wound healing process.
- Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes. This will cause increased friction on the armpits.
