The common house centipede bite symptoms include:

  • Radiating pain around the wound

House Centipede Bite Symptoms

The pain and minor symptoms of centipede bite usually disappears after a few hours; however, there are more severe symptoms of centipede bites with the following characteristics:

  • Heart palpitations
  • Headache
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • Swelling of the lymph nodes
  • Vomiting
  • Intense itching
  • Local tenderness

Treatment For Centipede Bite

When confronted with house centipede bite, the following steps can be taken as treatment:

  • Immediately wash the area with running water and soap. This will largely reduce the risk of infection.
  • Apply a cold compress on the bitten area. You can apply ice cube or a wet dressing for 10 minutes. Stop the cold compress for 10 minutes, then resume for another 10 minutes. This will help lessen the symptoms such as redness and swelling around the punctured area.
  • To relieve the pain, you can use a local anesthetic agent.
  • If pain persists and severe symptoms are exhibited, you should call the emergency numbers to get immediate and proper medical attention.
  • Children, individuals with venom allergies, and the elderly are more prone to experience severe symptoms after getting bitten by a house centipede.
    If the victim belongs to the aforementioned group, you should send him immediately to the nearest hospital.
