Urticaria is a common skin disorder prevalent in both the sexes, adults and children are equally affected.
Urticaria is characterized by formation of weals on the skin, they are raised red patches on the skin, which have the tendency to itch and burn.
Urticaria can be acute and chronic. It is often recurrent.
There are several causes of urticaria, it can result from digestive disorders like irritation in the digestive tract. The other cause may be due to the drugs like aspirin, NSAID, penicillin. Some foods also have tendency to cause urticaria such as tomato, strawberry, certain fish, mushrooms, eggs, chocolates, etc.
Some of the home remedies to treat urticaria are:
- Turmeric: Take 1 to 2 tsp of the powder with milk or water regularly, as turmeric has the immune boosting properties it helps to treat urticaria of long duration.
- Red ochre and alum are ground to powder and the mixture is then applied on the weals.
- Mint sugar and mint leaves are boiled in 150 ml of water. The mixture is then drunk twice in a day.Prepare fresh mixture every time it is consumed. It is helpful in relieving itching.
- Rose water and vinegar: Vinegar is mixed with rose water and then applied to the skin. It helps to relieve itching.
As chronic urticaria is the most difficult disease to cure, it is very important to look out for suspicious food allergies, drugs, toilet powders, soaps and to exclude it.

I am suffering from chronic intense urticaria disease since last 6 months. I tried all type of pathology as well as homeopathy but not with any success. It is very difficult to be bear an intense chronic problem.
