Medicine For Dandruff: Natural And Herbal Medication For Dandruff

Dandruff is characterized by flaking of the scalp and in which the flakes are seen on the hair and clothes. At some cases it can be very itchy and causes discomfort and embarrassment. Dandruff sheds dead skin cells in large clumps, these dandruff flakes can get trapped in hair and accumulate with oil and dirt.

The scalp collects white, dry, flaky scales that gather in the hair and fall onto the shoulders. Scaling maybe accompanied by mild itching, they can even occur in the eyebrows, causing redness and flaking.

What Causes Dandruff?

What exactly brings about dandruff is still not known.

However, here are factors that contribute to its occurrence:

  • Itchiness and flaking is commonly caused by dry scalp.
  • Seborrheic dermatitis is a condition that causes red, oily, and flaky skin. It is also a common dandruff cause.
  • Psoriasis is a skin condition where dead skin cells accumulate and forms thick silver-like-colored scales. It can occur in the scalp and other parts of the body.
  • Sensitivity to hair cosmetics can cause scalp flakiness.

Natural Remedies And Herbal Medicine For Dandruff

The following are tested and effective herbal medicine for dandruff:

  • Apply fenugreek seeds paste to the scalp and leave for one hour.
    Wash hair thoroughly with soap-nut solution or acacia concinna thereafter. To make the paste, soak two tablespoons of seeds with water overnight. Grind until fine paste,
  • Lime, having antioxidant properties, is a useful dandruff remedy. Mix a tablespoon of lime juice to water. Use as last rinse when washing the hair.
  • Wash hair with two tablespoons of green gram powder mixed with half cup of curd two times a week.
  • Another notable medicinal herb for dandruff is white beet. Boil tops and roots of the herb, let cool and massage to scalp every night.
  • Snake gourd acts to prevent and treat dandruff. Cut a portion and massage to the scalp.
