Psoriasis is a chronic and stubborn skin disease. It is characterized by thick red, silvery, scaled patches of the skin. When the normal cycle of the skin-cell-growth and replacement is disrupted, a non-contagious but persistent skin disorder occurs.

The dead skin cells, is usually replaced by new skin cells in about 28 days. But in psoriasis cases the process is accelerated taking place in only 3 to 4 days. As a result excess cells accumulate causing the characteristic scaly patches. The eruptions may occur from age 10 to 30 and continue life long. The severity may increase or decrease.

  • Avocado oil, the oil is found to be beneficial in this disease apply to the affected part gently. Or try best aromatherapy oil for psoriasis.
  • Butter milk, the use of curd in the form of butter milk is found to be useful, patient should drink it liberally.
  • Vitamin E in therapeutic dose is very helpful to reduce itching and scab formation.
  • Cashewnut oil, the oil extracted from the outer covering of cashewnut can be applied on the affected area, it acts as a rubifacient and  it is acrid in nature.
  • Cabbage leaves are used in the form of compresses in the treatment of psoriasis.
  • Epsom salt baths are beneficial in psoriasis. Little olive oil may be applied after the bath.

Natural Cure For Red Itchy Skin

  • Apply moisturizing skin creams liberally to the skin to keep it moist and prevent cracking. Petroleum jelly and lactic acid moisturizer are also helpful.
  • Coal-tar gels and salicylic acid ointment help to soften and remove skin scales.
  • If you scrape your scalp while combing your hair vigorously, you increase the risk of having psoriasis.
  • If stress aggravates psoriasis go in for meditation, yoga or biofeedback to reduce stress.
  • Regular sunbathing for 15-30 minutes avoiding sunburn can minimize the effects of psoriasis. Apply SPF15 sunscreen to healthy areas of the skin to protect sunburn.
  • Avoid scratching if you are irritated by an itch.
  • If your scalp has developed psoriasis apply salicylic acid softening gel to the scalp at night and wash it in the morning with a medicated anti-dandruff shampoo.
  • Soak in warm water containing oatmeal, coal tar or other oils to provide relief. Moisturize when you get out.

Prevent skin injuries and exposure to cold temperature; reduce stress and avoid alcoholic beverages.
