Natural Cure for Eye Cyst:

An eye cyst is the result of blocked meibomian glands in the eyelid, resulting from a nutritional deficiency. Meibomian glands are present in the eyelid. Eye cyst feels as if it is a sty from outside but it is not. After several days, the swelling and pain reduces and it disappears, but a slow growing pea-sized cyst remains on the lid.

Preventing Eye Cyst:

In case of eye cyst, try to solve the problem as early as possible. It has to be surgically drained if it does not heal on time.

A profession is to be seen for this procedure. Drink at least two liters of water to keep the lid secretions thin and easy to drain. Frequently wash your hands, keep them clean and do not rub your eyes with dirty hands or fingers. Everyone should have his own towel and wash cloth. Fried, refined and processed foods should be completely deleted from your dietary habit. Also avoid eating meats, unsaturated oils, salt, alcohol, tobacco or dairy products.
Very warm compresses should be followed by cold as this will assist in drawing the pus or material to the head.

Home Remedies for Eye Cyst:

  • One should eat vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene for many days. Vitamin A is a pure yellow and fat-soluble crystal. Vitamin A is found in meat, milk and egg. The safer and very nutritious carotene is pro-vitamin. It is found in abundance in fruits and vegetables and is converted by the liver into vitamin A. It is always safe to take carotene in larger amounts; because the liver only converts the amount needed by the body into vitamin A. Richest source is present in dark green leafy vegetables. Other important sources are green and orange fruits and vegetables, especially carrots, lighter green vegetables, yams, tomatoes, mangoes, apricots etc.
  • Apply warm poultice made from boric acid (3%). This should be applied on the eyelid externally. An ointment made from boric acid is also available as ophthalmic use. This is available in health stores on the counter.
  • Hold moist, cloth against the eye cyst and this will hasten its drainage. If it very painful and affects your vision surgical eye cyst removal is advised.
  • Bloodroot is very useful in treatment of eye cyst. Apply a paste made from its powder over the eye cyst and it will help drain the content with few days of regular use.
