Question: I am suffering from hydrocele from last 10 years and just informed doctor about that. He told me to have a surgery. Is there any way to treat hydrocele without surgery or by taking some medicines?

What is hydrocele?
Hydrocele is a common condition, which results in accumulation of fluid in the tunica vaginalis, the sac that surrounds the testicles. It can occur at any age but is common among older men.
Treatment of Hydrocele:
- Exclusive fresh fruit diet is known to benefit people suffering from hydrocele.Take three meals a day comprising of apples, grapes, oranges, peaches, pineapple, etc. Avoid tinned fruits or fruit juices.
- If you suffer from constipation, homeopathic remedy Nux Vomica 30, 5 pills, every 4 hours should help improve the bowel movement within a couple of days. Straining at stools should be avoided, as it may exacerbate the effect of the hydrocele.
- Take boiled vegetables or fresh vegetable salad for lunch and dinner. Scrambled eggs with whole wheat bread and butter will also be helpful in treating hydrocele.
- Avoid all forms of stimulatants like alcohol, tea, and coffee. Don’t smoke.
- Avoid any form of activities that would cause strain in the lower portion of the body. Avoid heavy weight lifting, strenuous physical exercises, etc.
- Taking hip baths with cold water, thrice a day, for 15-20 minutes have been proven to be beneficial to patients with hydrocele.
- You could try homeopathic remedy Lycopodium 3x, 4 tablets twice a day to cure hydrocele.

I am suffering from big and old hydrocele. Can hyrocele be treated by medicine.

No there is no non-surgical way of treating hydrocele. They can be drained or surgically removed. A third option is drainage and injection of a scarring agent to close the opening which allowed fluid entry to begin with. There is no medicine which will correct the problem.
