A boil is a localized infection on the skin. It usually appears on skin surfaces such as the face, shoulders, back, scalp, and also inside the ear. Boil in the ear starts out as tender and reddened area that eventually hardens while its center remains soft and gets filled with white blood cells, which are later joined with bacteria and protein thus creating what is called pus.
Boil in the Ear Causes
A boil in the ear is a common occurrence, and it is usually caused by ingrown hair, blocked sweat gland that gets infected and foreign material lodged on the pore.
Home Remedies and Natural Treatment for Boil in Ear
If you have a boil inside your ear, you can take antibiotics to kill the bacteria. However, since self-medication is not advisable, you can apply some home remedies for boils in ear.
- Cleanse the boil inside your ear with cotton soaked in hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the bacteria and prevent their spreading out.
- Pound a bulb of garlic and apply its juice on the surface of your boil. Garlic is rich in antibacterial and antimicrobial properties known to kill germs and speeds up the healing process.
- Avoid oily and fatty foods especially those that are fried.
- Avoid touching your boil in the ear especially if you have not washed your hands as they could have bacteria that could potentially infect your boil further.
