Diet, Natural Remedies for Constipation | Treatments for Constipation
Question: I’m just a few days overdue and severely constipated for 6 days. I took liquid paraffin but it didn’t help. Please help me as it is very uneasy for me.

- Constipation is a common disturbance of the alimentary tract/digestive tract, especially during pregnancy.
- The enlarging uterus puts a pressure on to the rectum, thus making the passage of feces difficult.
- 3 liters of water intake is very essential for regular bowel movement. Water regularizes the system and most importantly flushes out toxic wastes.
- Psyllium seeds are especially beneficial in obstinate cases of constipation. 2 spoons should be soaked a little warm milk for half an hour. Have it before going to bed. Make it a routine, till delivery.
- Raw salad increases fibre and roughage content in the diet and prevents constipation. 1-2 bowls of salad daily will help in the normal evacuation of the bowel. They add bulk to the feces, aiding in their elimination. Roughage also, improves peristalsis.
- Raisins – soak raisins overnight in water. Let them swell. The next morning, consume the raisins with the water.
- Do not discard the water. This remedy will help overcome the disorder.
- Have 1 big glass of milk, before retiring to bed. Milk stimulates sluggish bowel movement.
- Do not use artificial laxatives. They are not a good option.
- Constipation for long periods of time can have harmful consequences. The toxins cannot get eliminated from the body, hence, they find a way to the blood stream, and from there to all the parts of the body.This devitalizes the system, making it more prone to infections.
