PAVANAMUKTASANA for Diabetics
- This asana strengthens pancreas, liver, spleen, abdomen and abdominal muscles.
- It relieves flatulence by helping to release excess gas from the abdomen.
Technique for Pavanamuktasana
- Lie flat on your back with your hands placed by your side.
- Fold back the legs and let your feet be flat on the floor.
- Interlock fingers of your hands and place them a little below the knees.
- Bring the thighs up near the chest.
- Breathe out, raise your head and shoulders and bring your nose between your knees.
- For a few seconds maintain the same position.
- Repeat this posture 3 to 5 times.
- Reverse the procedure and get back to the original position.
SHAVASANA (DEAD-BODY POSE)
- It is especially beneficial for people suffering from diabetes, worry, mental tension and anxiety.
- Shavasana relieves mental tension, physical fatigue and promotes peace and relaxation.
- It also helps lower high blood pressure.
- This exercise should be practiced both at the beginning and at the end of yogic asana.
Technique for Shavasana
- Lie flat on your back. Let your feet be comfortably apart and arms and hand should be about six inches away from the body, palms upwards and fingers half bent.
- Close and relax your eyes.
- Now consciously and gradually relax every part and each muscle of the body. Beginning with feet, legs, calves, knees, thighs, abdomen, hips, back, hands, arms, chest, shoulders, neck, head and face.
- Feel as if your whole body is lifeless and relax completely.
- Forget all worries, responsibilities and remain motionless in this posture for 10 to 15 minutes.
- When your legs go numb stop the exercise.
