In recent memory, there is no disease that can possibly match the viciousness that swine flu unleashed to the world. While the SARS provided some scare a few years ago, it is nothing compared to the swine flu when it comes to areas affected, the number of casualties, and most importantly the rapidity with which the disease spread from one area to another. In the wake of the devastation created, health experts were left to grope in the dark because the vaccines were outdated.

Swine Flu Infection, Symptoms, and Stages

Per record, most nations suffered from swine flu stage 5 although some did reach swine flu stage 6. Although such numbers are numbing especially if one is familiar with the way that the disease attacks a person, a swine flu stage is useless unless people are familiar with what they mean.

For guidance, the following are the different swine flu stage so that one will not be left in the dark learning all about the disease.

• Stage 1: in this stage, there are suspected and confirmed cases but these are rather isolated and in places far apart.
• In stage 2, there is an increase in the number of cases from stage 1 but then again, there is as of yet no proof of transmission of the disease from one person to another.
• Stage 3: in this stage, there is a minor transmission of cases especially in areas where people are near each other such as in public transport, in offices, and in schools.
• Stage 4: in this swine flu stage, there are now confirmed cases of transmission from person to person in a scale larger than in the previous stage.
• Stage 5: this is the swine flu stage where many of the nations affected reached. In this stage, there is now infestation of the disease on a large scale and some whole communities may be affected.
• Stage 6: this is the swine flu stage that health officials would never wish the disease to reach. In this stage, there is now widespread infestation characterized by community outbreaks. As a result, some offices, schools and even shopping centers will be closed to prevent transmission of the disease. Predictably, business will be affected.
