Swine Flu Precautions | Symptoms, Safety Precautions Against Swine Flu
The danger that accompanies with the swine flu outbreak has greatly alarmed the public making the latter exert double efforts to apply necessary swine flu precautions. The following are some of the helpful swine flu safety tips given by World Health Organization (WHO) to keep you and your family safe from this dangerous epidemic:
- When coughing or sneezing in public, cover your nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissues that are ready for disposal.
- Make sure to properly dispose tissues that were already used right after using them.
- Make it a habit to wash your hands regularly preferably with soap and water;
- Avoid crowded places as much as possible.
- Avoid physical contact or touch with others such as hugging, kissing and even shaking hands.
- Keep off from rubbing or touching your eyes, nose and even mouth especially when your hands were not clean.
Swine Flu Safety
For those who are suspected swine flu infected, the following are additional swine flu precautions to avoid contaminating others:
- Immediately visit your doctor if you are experiencing symptoms of a flu.
- Be responsible enough to distance yourself for about one meter from others. Isolate yourself by staying in your home. Do not go to work or attend classes at school.
- Avoid visiting crowded public places especially food chains, parks, churches, and many other public places.
- Keep off from using public comfort rooms as much as possible.
- Get enough good rest.
- Take 8 glasses or more of water daily.
- Cut off smoking habits.
- Take a break from drinking especially alcohol-based liquors.
- Wash your hands with soap and water as much as necessary.
- Take first aid treatment such as medicines for the flu.
- Use your own restroom. As much as possible, do not let other person, especially members of your household, use the same restroom with you. Have your restroom cleaned regularly. Do not forget to use disinfectant.
Precautions Against Swine Flu
- Persons who are suspected to be swine flu infected should quarantine himself or herself, either in a room or in a totally different house, i.e., rest house. Unnecessary visits should be avoided.
- It is preferable that the suspected swine flu victim should be accompanied by one person only who shall be responsible for taking care of the patient.
- If however a separate bathroom to be used by the sick person is impossible, it is a must therefore that other members of the house should clean their hands every now and then especially after using the bathroom.
