Yes, definitely face masks help the spread of the swine flu virus. Some of the obvious reasons are,
    • Face masks contain microscopic pores (or a mesh) which allow air to pass but prevent microorganisms and virus to pass through. This restricts the entry of microorganisms into your respiratory system, without causing any breathing difficulty
    • As against a handkerchief, which can get infected by microorganisms on your hands, a surgical face mask is a better option. Further, the mask doesn’t engage your hands and stays in place providing you with maximum protection.
    • Most surgical masks are sterilized and carry zero risk of infection, which your handkerchief or a tissue paper is not very likely to provide.

In addition to wearing the mask it is imperative for you to ensure that you follow essential protocols to maintain utmost hygiene. Avoid crowded areas, distance yourself from people whom you find to be sneezing and coughing.
