What is Teething
Teething is a process where the new teeth push through the gums. It begins usually between 4 to 8 months and ends around the kids 3rd birthday. When teeth start working their way through the gum tissue, the gums become tender and swollen and the child refuses to eat, is unable to sleep well and frets and cries.
Symptoms of Teething or Tooth eruption
- Swelling and/or gum’s redden.
- Increase in drooling.
- Quite very often infants put fingers in the mouth.
Causes of Teething or Tooth eruption
It is a natural process in a child’s development.
Natural cures for Teething or Tooth eruption
- Wash your fingers well and then rub (massage) the child’s gums gently for a minute or two with your little finger.
- Excessive drooling can chap skin around the mouth and cheeks, to prevent this apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly.
- Give the child a hard rubber pacifier that cannot be swallowed.
- To decrease risk of infection and irritation, clean the child’s gums and new teeth, twice a day with a soft toothbrush or a clean washcloth.
- Tooth may decay if it is in constant touch with milk, so do not feed the child with a bottle of milk at bedtime.
