Influenza in Children | Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment of Influenza
This illness is commonly called flu and is caused by a virus.
Symptoms of Influenza in Children
- Muscle’s ache and very high temperature. The aches are worst in the back, shoulders, hips and thighs.
- The person finds it difficult to get out of bed due to very high temperature. This phase usually lasts for a short span of two to three days.
- This is followed by exhaustion that can last for a few days.
- Complications like chest infection and blocked sinuses may arise.
- Older children feel cold one minute and hot the next.
- Headaches are also common.
Treatment for Flu in Children
- There is no treatment for flu. If the child has fever give recommended dosage of Paracetamol.
- Call the doctor if there are other symptoms that worry you.
- Only in special cases children are recommended vaccine for flu. In regular cases vaccines are avoided.
- In regular uncomplicated flu cases antibiotics are of no use. They are useful when complications like sinusitis arise.
