Heat Stroke in Children: Symptoms and Treating Heat Stroke
What is Heat Stroke?
Children love playing outdoors and may get over-exposed to sun. In mild cases they may suffer from sunburn and in extreme cases from heat stroke. Heat strokes can lead to a lot of skin problems later in life.
What are the Symptoms of Heat Stroke in children?
- Drowsiness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting.
- The child can get de-hydrated and seem slightly confused.
What You Can Do for Heat Stroke in children?
- Avoid overexposure to sunlight.
- Use sun hats and T-shirts to protect the child’s skin from sun rays.
- If children want to swim in the open then use a high factor sun block and apply it regularly.
- Give Paracetamol if there is headache.
- Give plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
- Let the child lie down and relax for sometime.
- Call the doctor for advice if the child is very drowsy or confused.
