Foreskin: Phimosis and Circumcision
What is Phimosis?
A tight foreskin is called phimosis. Children normally have very tight foreskin at birth. It should however not be pulled back.
How can children be treated for Phimosis?
- Around the age of three the foreskin of the child can be gently pulled back. If the foreskin becomes too tight after this, then visit a doctor to get it checked.
- In some cases the removal of the foreskin may be advised by the doctor.
Infection of the foreskin
Sometimes the area under the foreskin may get infected.This condition is called balanitis. The child suffering from balanitis may complain of pain while passing urine. And the skin is inflamed with pus. It can be treated with antibiotics.
