Deafness in Children: Diagnosis, Causes, and Treatment of Hearing Loss

After a child’s birth a series of tests are conducted including a test for deafness. But in some places a hearing test is conducted only when the baby is around eight months old.

The tests will be conducted repeatedly if deafness is suspected. If the health visitor is still concerned, further tests will be arranged.

Parents can easily judge their child’s hearing. Audiogram is arranged if there is suspicion of deafness.

Repeated ear infections and glue ear can lead to loss of hearing and further delay in language development. So if you are worried make an appointment at your surgery.
