Infant Colic Pain | Syptoms and Treatment of Colic Pain in Babies
During the first few months of life babies seem to suffer from colicky pain. The pain may not be constant and occurs at periodic intervals. It is due to the immaturity of the gut in the babies.
Symptoms of Colic Pain
- The child cries continuously and draws their legs up.
- The symptoms worsen during the evening.
- The child may appear to settle down between episodes.
What to Do
- Gently rub the babies back.
- Carrying the baby in a sling maybe useful.
- Gripe water may also help ease colic.
- A mixture is available with General Practitioner that is to be given along with feeds. It is not very helpful in all cases. And should be discontinued if no improvement is seen.
- After three months of age the frequency and severity of the pain reduces by itself. If it doesn’t then consult your doctor.
