Everybody has wax in their ears. When you clean ear never push the cotton bud into the ear canal. This can actually increase the amount of wax produced.
Earwax Buildup Removal in Children
- Only the outside of the ear should be cleaned.
- Never use safety pins or hair pins to clean the ear.
- If the child seems more deaf than usual due to the build up of wax, consult your practice nurse. She can check the child before treatment.
- Prior to that use a drop or two of olive oil twice a day to soften the wax.
- Special machine is available for older children and adults to have the wax washed out.
